Coffee is everyone’s go to beverage, especially in the morning because of its many health benefits. Millennials have now joined the group of coffee aficionados. With the different flavorings, temperatures, brewing and roasting methods, no wonder coffee is the second most preferred beverage around the world after water. In fact, over 1.8 billion cups of coffee are consumed every day worldwide. After crude oil, coffee is the most demanded of goods, ahead of natural gas, gold, sugar and corn. Today, coffee is worth US$ 100 billion.

Law Chou Ma Sar

#LawChouMaSar is an initiative born from the desire to stimulate the manufacturing and creative sectors in Lebanon, and to stop Lebanon’s youth from migrating outside the country in search of better opportunities.

Literally translating to ‘No Matter What’, the campaign was launched by the Lebanese Franchise Associate and has already reached a national level of exposure.

Transgressing the level of a trending hashtag, it has fast become a movement encouraging the Lebanese population to face hardships at all levels and to succeed in their respective industries.

Regional Hospitality Investments

Due to the growing focus of Middle Eastern governments on the tourism sector to reach USD 20 million visitors by 2025, and with global business travel spending expected to hit USD 1.6 trillion in 2020, there is a significant increase and interest for hospitality investments in the Middle East. Hence, the region will witness more than 151,000 new hotel rooms. Activity in the hospitality sector is at an all-time high, with a total of more than 200,000 keys in the pipeline in the MEA region. This represents an 18% increase YOY.

Etoile de Pompadour, a New Star in Corrèze, France

After 6 months of hard work and preparation, the Lumen team went for a task force mission, to set-up and launch Etoile de Pompadour, a 63-hectar sports and wellness domain, in the beautiful French Corrèze region.

Phase 1 of the project consists of a 28-key luxury boutique hotel, an equestrian academy as well as 15 covered tennis courts. This phase was inaugurated on the 11th of August 2016, under the patronage of his Excellency the President of the French Republic Mr. François Hollande as well as several Lebanese, Jordanian and French high profile personalities.

Michele is a recent graduate working as a Junior Associate at Lumen Hospitality Consultants. After completing her Bachelor of Science in Nutrition & Dietetics at the American University of Beirut in Lebanon, she went on to get a Master’s of Science in Food Biotechnology at the University of Leeds in the United Kingdom. During her studies, she took part in multiple projects in the Food & Beverage field as well as the hospitality field and took on courses in Business Management and Food service Management.

Companies today are adopting mentoring as a strategy to stimulate growth and lower turnover rates, which can cost up to 200% of the salary of the employee that is being replaced. Mentoring is a more casual relationship with no formal obligations or goals that involves a two way exchange of knowledge, social capital, and psychosocial support mutually beneficial to both parties. Some techniques include supervisory mentoring (multiple mentors each with a specialization), mentoring circles (group workshops) and flash mentoring (single, short meetings).
